HONORING Amiel Dixon upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the National
Association of Negro Business and Professional
Women's Clubs, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Amiel Dixon upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's
Clubs, Inc., to be celebrated at its 51st Annual Founders' Day
Observance, "Empowering Communities and Shaping Lives," on Saturday,
April 28, 2018, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Amiel Dixon is the recipient of the National Association of
Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs' College Scholarship in
recognition of her numerous accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Achievement First Brooklyn High School in
Brooklyn, New York, Amiel Dixon currently serves as a member of the
Senior Committee and as the leader of External Communications for the
Student Council; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, she was a member of the Speech and Debate Team
as well as the Natural Hair Club where she helped many of her classmates
embrace their natural hair and improve their self-confidence; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to giving back
to her community, Amiel Dixon volunteered as a Teacher Assistant at
Achievement First Brooklyn High School; and

WHEREAS, As Amiel Dixon takes her leave of Achievement First
Brooklyn High School, she bequeaths a legacy of academic achievement,
school involvement and community service to which others may aspire; and

WHEREAS, Amiel Dixon stands poised on the threshold of a broad and
challenging world; a testament to the love and nurturing care of her
family, friends and school; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Amiel Dixon, a
young woman and able scholar, recognizing the value of her labors and
the promise of her future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Amiel Dixon upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the National Association of Negro Business and
Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Amiel Dixon.
