Senate Resolution No. 4962

HONORING Dr. John Schutze upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2018 Liberty Bell
Award by the Warren County Bar Association on May 4,
2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those individuals within the medical field who
distinguish themselves through professional excellence and who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life of citizens in the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. John Schutze upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2018 Liberty Bell Award by the Warren County Bar Association to be
celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Liberty Bell Award, given each year by local bar
associations, honors exemplary citizens within the local community; the
award recognizes outstanding service performed by a non-lawyer citizen
who volunteers their time and efforts to serve the community; and
WHEREAS, Such service may include activities which promote a better
understanding of America's form of government, stimulating a deeper
sense of individual responsibility to the end that citizens recognize
their duties as well as their rights; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John Schutze has practiced dentistry since 1973, and
has continued his training in pediatric care, dental malocclusion and
TMJ discomfort, endodontic therapy, cosmetic reconstruction, implant
reconstruction, patient relaxation, and periodontal therapy; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John Schutze has been awarded Fellowship in the Academy
of General Dentistry after over 1,500 hours of continuing education; his
training includes a BA in biology from Seton Hall University, a DDS from
University of Maryland, an externship from Johns Hopkins University
Hospital, and a general dentistry internship from Michael Reese Hospital
in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John Schutze has had leadership positions with the
Fourth District Dental Society locally, the New York State Dental
Association, and as a representative to the American Dental Association;
and
WHEREAS, He and his wife, Patricia, have had numerous community
involvements, some of which include: the American Cancer Society,
Juvenile Diabetes Research Association, the Glens Falls Hospital
Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, the Glens Falls Rotary Club, and
the Tri-County United Way; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John and Patricia Schutze are the proud parents of two
grown children, and the loving grandparents of five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John Schutze feels blessed to have a caring staff who
strive to make each person's dental experience as comfortable as
possible; that compassionate staff includes his son, Jonathan since
1999, and his associate, Jacob Merryman since 2008; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which this remarkable man has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, As a leader in his profession, Dr. John Schutze has proven
himself to be a great asset to dentistry and to the health and welfare
of the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. John Schutze upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2018 Liberty Bell Award by the Warren County Bar Association; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. John Schutze.
