COMMENDING Karen Gorr upon the occasion of her
retirement after 32 years of distinguished service
to the United States Postal Service
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Karen Gorr
upon the occasion of her retirement after 32 years of distinguished
service to the United States Postal Service; and
WHEREAS, Karen Gorr began her long and illustrious career as a
postal worker with the United States Postal Service at the Grahamsville
Post Office in 1986; four years later, she assumed the title of
Postmaster, the position from which she officially retired in March of
2018; and
WHEREAS, For 28 years, Karen Gorr has led the Grahamsville Post
Office through many technical innovations; she also supervised the move
into a larger facility to serve more customers; and
WHEREAS, In her much deserved retirement, Karen Gorr will continue
to volunteer her time and energy to various community organizations such
as the Neversink Agricultural Society; currently, she serves as the Vice
President of the Neversink Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, For the past 32 years, Karen Gorr rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the United States Postal Service,
serving with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Karen Gorr was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Karen Gorr upon the occasion of her retirement after 32 years of
distinguished service to the United States Postal Service, and to wish
her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Karen Gorr.
