COMMENDING Beatrice Havranek upon the occasion of
her retirement after 41 years of dedicated service
to the citizens of Ulster County on May 31, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful
lives and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of
the citizens of their community and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Ulster County
community has been ably served and uniquely enriched through the
selfless dedication and benevolent concern of Beatrice Havranek; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Beatrice Havranek upon the occasion of her retirement after 41
years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ulster County; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her long and distinguished career, Beatrice
"Bea" Havranek has held numerous positions within the County including
two terms as the Town of Rosendale Supervisor, Minority Counsel to the
Ulster County Legislature, First Assistant County Attorney, and Deputy
County Executive; and

WHEREAS, Beatrice Havranek has held the title of County Attorney
since 2009, making her the first woman to serve in that capacity in
Ulster County's history; she will officially retire from this position
on May 31, 2018; and

WHEREAS, In this role, Beatrice Havranek was instrumental in both
the creation and implementation of the Ulster County Charter and
Administrative Code which has transformed County Government and created
the position of County Executive, dramatically increasing transparency,
accountability and fundamental reforms for the residents of Ulster
County; and

WHEREAS, In her much deserved retirement, Beatrice Havranek plans on
spending more time with her recently retired husband, Bill, who has
shown her love and support and rejoices in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Throughout a life and career of purposeful endeavor,
Beatrice Havranek has remained true to her commitment, serving family,
faith and community, as well as the law; her contributions and
accomplishments have brought great benefit and positive influence to
bear upon the course of jurisprudence and the quality of life for
others; and

WHEREAS, County Attorney Beatrice Havranek, in every capacity in
which she served, has left her permanent mark on the criminal justice
community and will forever be remembered as a determined, innovative and
genuinely concerned expert in her field; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Beatrice Havranek upon the occasion of her retirement after 41
years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ulster County, and to wish
her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Beatrice Havranek.
