COMMENDING Girls Leading Up upon the occasion of
hosting its Pre-Summer Kickoff Silent Disco Party on
May 19, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Girls Leading Up upon the occasion of hosting its Pre-Summer
Kickoff Silent Disco Party on Saturday, May 19, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Girls Leading Up strives to promote sisterhood while
empowering, educating and equipping young women in the diaspora to
become civically engaged, visionaries and future leaders; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization diligently works to equip and
provide young women with the tools to become effective leaders which is
necessary to ensure the economic prosperity of women, their families and
communities across the globe; and

WHEREAS, Girls Leading Up teaches girls the skills they need for
innovation and social change, empowering them to serve as future female
change agents; girls with strong voice become active leaders and
passionate engaged citizens who truly impact their communities; and

WHEREAS, Girls can attend various programs at Girls Leading Up
including personal and professional development workshops, training
workshops and sessions, counseling sessions, mentorship services and
additional resources; and

WHEREAS, The success of Girls Leading Up is in direct correlation to
the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Girls Leading Up; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Girls Leading Up upon the occasion of hosting its Pre-Summer
Kickoff Silent Disco Party on May 19, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Girls Leading Up.
