COMMENDING the Ardsley High School Science Bowl
Team upon the occasion of winning the 2018 NYC
Regional SHPE High School Science Bowl on March 3,
2018

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the
Ardsley High School Science Bowl Team upon the occasion of winning the
2018 NYC Regional SHPE High School Science Bowl; and

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future are worthy of praise and support; and

WHEREAS, Sponsored by the United States Department of Energy's
Office of Science, the Science Bowl has grown into one of the most
prestigious science academic competitions in the country and challenges
students to excel in fields vital to America's future; and

WHEREAS, A team of five exceptional Ardsley High School students
captured the 2018 NYC Regional SHPE High School Science Bowl on
Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Hunter College High School in New York, New
York; and

WHEREAS, With this monumental win, the team earned a trip to compete
against teams from 65 regional tournaments that have advanced to the
national level at the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase,
Maryland, April 26-30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Launched in 1991, the National Science Bowl (NSB) is a
highly competitive science education and academic event among teams of
high school and middle school students who compete in a fast-paced
verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all
branches of science and math; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its 27-year history, more than 275,000 students
have participated in the NSB; each year, more than 14,000 students
compete in this this exceptional competition; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
these scholars now stand honorably, with just pride in their
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by their teachers, coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Ardsley High School Science Bowl Team upon the occasion
of winning the 2018 NYC Regional SHPE High School Science Bowl on March
3, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Ardsley High School Science Bowl Team.
