HONORING Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the
William V. McDonagh Community Service Award by the
New York State Police on May 30, 2018

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the William V. McDonagh Community Service Award by the New
York State Police to be celebrated at its 42nd Annual Superintendent's
Commendation and Awards Day Ceremony on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the
State Police Academy in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious award was established in honor of the late
Trooper William V. McDonagh, who was killed in the line of duty on
December 14, 1975; Trooper McDonagh participated in numerous worthy
events and tirelessly worked to better his community; Lieutenant Richard
F. Anguish truly epitomizes Trooper McDonagh's ideals and beliefs; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish has proudly served as a
member of the New York State Police since November 2, 1998; he is
currently assigned to the State Police Latham BCI, Troop G; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his fellow officers and community, Lieutenant
Richard F. Anguish served as the principle organizer of an initiative
which commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the New York State Police;
and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish and over 30 individuals,
mostly New York State Police members, volunteered their time and energy
constructing and/or remodeling homes on Orange Street in the City of
Albany for Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization which builds
affordable homes for people in need; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish and the volunteers
successfully completed various construction projects ranging from
framing, plumbing and insulation, to finishing work; the group worked
over three different dates in May, June and October of 2017, resulting
in move-in ready homes for several families in need; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish
has displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the William V. McDonagh Community Service Award by the
New York State Police on May 30, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lieutenant Richard F. Anguish.
