COMMENDING Thrive NYC upon the occasion of hosting
its Mental Health First Aid Training Day on May 26,
2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Thrive NYC upon the occasion of hosting its Mental Health First
Aid Training Day on Saturday, May 26, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Thrive NYC is an unprecedented commitment by the City of
New York to create a mental health system that works for everyone; and
WHEREAS, Thrive Learning Center (Thrive LC) is a free online
learning tool and skill-building resource created to help leaders, staff
and volunteers of community and faith-based organizations, trusted
social organizations and sources, to better meet their community's
mental health needs; and
WHEREAS, In the spring of 2016, Thrive NYC met with leaders of New
York City faith-and community-based organizations to identify the kinds
of information and skills they felt they could use to help address the
mental health problems that were often brought to them by people in
their neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Thrive LC's library of downloadable resources and
self-directed training opportunities offer practical and effective tools
to improve Learners' interactions with people in their community, and
provides a breadth and depth of mental health educational components
that enable users to self-tailor what they learn and use; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Thrive NYC has demonstrated
continuous service to the residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Thrive NYC upon the occasion of hosting its Mental Health First
Aid Training Day on May 26, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Thrive NYC.
