CONGRATULATING Frank Carrozza upon the occasion of
his induction into the SUNY Orange Colt Athletic
Hall of Fame on November 12, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Frank Carrozza upon the occasion of his induction into the
SUNY Orange Colt Athletic Hall of Fame; this momentous occasion was
celebrated on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Frank Carrozza is a 1967 graduate of SUNY Orange, where he
distinguished himself by his many notable achievements as a member of
the wrestling team; and

WHEREAS, Considered the Father of Minisink Wrestling, Frank Carrozza
has been involved in wrestling since the seventh grade; prior to his
time at SUNY Orange, he wrestled for Island Trees High School on Long
Island, where he posted an undefeated record in 1965 en route to a
league and North Shore championships; and

WHEREAS, At SUNY Orange, Frank Carrozza was a standout for coach Don
Weber, capturing Region XV titles in both 1966 and 1967, while going
unbeaten in 1967; he won the West Point plebe tournament in 1966, and
was named Most Outstanding Wrestler while capturing an individual crown
at the MIT Tournament in 1967; and

WHEREAS, During the 1968 season at West Chester University, Frank
Carrozza won the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship and earned
All-American honors following a third-place finish at the national
tournament; and

WHEREAS, Frank Carrozza coached the Minisink Valley wrestling team
from 1969 through 1974, leading the squad to an 80-12-4 record; his
teams generated three New York State place winners, four Section Nine
champions and 24 OCIAA champions; and

WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, Frank Carrozza served as a physical
education teacher at Minisink, while also holding the title of athletic
director; and

WHEREAS, Athletes such as Frank Carrozza provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Frank Carrozza for
his extraordinary athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to his
skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Frank Carrozza upon the occasion of his induction into the
SUNY Orange Colt Athletic Hall of Fame on November 12, 2016; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Frank Carrozza.
