CONGRATULATING Dana O'Neill upon the occasion of
her induction into the SUNY Orange Colt Athletic
Hall of Fame on November 12, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Dana O'Neill upon the occasion of her induction into the
SUNY Orange Colt Athletic Hall of Fame; this momentous occasion was
celebrated on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dana O'Neill is a 1991 graduate of SUNY Orange, where she
distinguished herself by her many notable achievements on the basketball
and volleyball court; and

WHEREAS, During her freshman year at SUNY Orange, Dana O'Neill
played basketball, volleyball and softball; and

WHEREAS, Dana O'Neill led the Colts women's basketball team to a
Region XV Championship and the NJCAA Nationals in Tyler, Texas; she was
named Region XV Most Valuable Player in 1990; and

WHEREAS, As a sophomore, Dana O'Neill again led the basketball team
to a regional crown and the NJCAA tournament while averaging 17.2 points
per game, 13 rebounds per game and 3.5 blocks per game; and

WHEREAS, Dana O'Neill went on to play basketball and volleyball at
Wagner University on a full athletic scholarship; and

WHEREAS, In 1997, Dana O'Neill returned to SUNY Orange to coach the
volleyball team, guiding the Colts to a 25-3 record and a regional
championship; the same year, she was named Region XV Coach of the Year;
and

WHEREAS, Athletes such as Dana O'Neill provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Dana O'Neill for
her extraordinary athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to her
skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dana O'Neill upon the occasion of her induction into the
SUNY Orange Colt Athletic Hall of Fame on November 12, 2016; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dana O'Neill.
