PAYING tribute to the life and community service
of Andrew Sandler, District Manager of Bronx
Community Board 7, who passed away on Saturday,
August 5, 2017
WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation continue to be
inspired by the efforts of individuals who commit their lives to
uplifting their communities; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler was a dedicated community leader who spent
his whole career devoted to helping the neighborhoods and residents of
the Bronx and New York State; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler worked tirelessly to guide constituents on
their paths toward attaining housing, jobs, and numerous social service
benefits as a devoted Community Affairs and Constituent Services
Director for New York City Councilmembers Koppell and Cohen; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler was responsible for facilitating the
installation of energy efficient materials at the Bronx Victory World
War I Memorial and aided the Riverdale Temple in obtaining the necessary
permits to expand their services to the Bronx's Jewish community; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler served as the District Manager of Bronx
Community Board 7, where he ensured public and private projects
addressed the community's needs and revitalized the local economy,
including the Kingsbridge National Ice Center, the Jerome Park
Reservoir, and the Mosholu Parkway; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler was a steadfast public servant to the
Northwest Bronx community serving at the most local levels of
government; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler became an advocate for cancer patients to
help New Yorkers battling cancer get the care they need; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Sandler was relentless in his desire to remedy
issues facing his community, no matter how big or small, and served as
an inspiration for all public servants in the Northwest Bronx; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
appreciation to a community leader who dedicated his life and career in
faithful service to his Bronx community and its heartfelt regret that he
left us at such a young age; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
pay tribute to the life and selfless community service of Andrew
Sandler; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Mother of Andrew Sandler.
