HONORING Zachary Hanham upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Zachary
Hanham upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated
at its Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at
Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Hanham has distinguished himself as a young man of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Port Jervis High School, Zachary Hanham will be
attending a four-year university this fall; he plans to study computer
science and hopes to become a software developer; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Hanham has been a staple of the music and theater
department for all of his high school career; he has appeared in every
stage production since his freshman year as a pirate in Peter Pan, a
prince in Into the Woods, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, and he
recently portrayed Eugene Florczyk in Grease; he was also influential in
developing the Port Jervis High School Black Box Theater and portrayed
Mr. Mushnik in the fall production of Little Shop of Horrors; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Hanham is a member of every vocal ensemble and
spends three to four periods a day practicing; he has been an asset to
the music department, a leader within the tenor section and has
represented Port Jervis High School at many local festivals; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Zachary
Hanham has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Hanham may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Hanham represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Zachary Hanham upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Zachary Hanham.
