HONORING Ava Mankoo upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ava Mankoo
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Ava Mankoo has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Minisink Valley High School, Ava Mankoo plans
to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology this fall in New York
City; she plans to major in fashion design for her first two years and
spend her last two years in a specialized major within fashion design;
and
WHEREAS, Currently, Ava Mankoo attends pre-college courses at FIT
along with managing her own tailoring and clothing business, Mae Mae
Couture; during her four years in high school, she has studied fashion
merchandising, studio and textiles design, graphic design and
illustration, jewelry making and sewing in order to further her career
in the arts; and
WHEREAS, Ava Mankoo showcases her portfolios of garments and
illustrations at art shows and at course information sessions for
parents and students; she has remained on the honor roll all four years
of high school; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Ava Mankoo
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Ava Mankoo may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Ava Mankoo represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ava Mankoo upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ava Mankoo.
