HONORING Beatrice A. DeSapio upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by Housing
and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on
June 21, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Beatrice A. DeSapio upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc., to
be celebrated at its Annual Carole Jayson Memorial Dinner on Thursday,
June 21, 2018, at Rex Manor, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Beatrice A. DeSapio graduated from Bishop Raymond A.
Kearney High School before receiving a Bachelor's degree in History from
Richmond College; she went on to earn a Master's degree in Secondary
Education from Richmond College and a Master's degree in Adult Education
and Human Resource Development from Fordham University; and

WHEREAS, In 1979, Beatrice A. DeSapio began her illustrious career
at Ditmas I.S. 62, where she has taught Social Studies, Literature and
Report writing to students for nearly four decades; she has also served
as UFT Chapter Leader and as a Budget Manager; and

WHEREAS, During this time, Beatrice A. DeSapio was instrumental in
bringing significant funds in grants to Ditmas I.S. 62, ranging from
auditorium refurbishment, to cafeteria air conditioning to intensive
after school programs; and

WHEREAS, Beatrice A. DeSapio is currently a member of Community
Board No. 7, prior to which she served as the President of Community
School Board No. 15; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, New York, Beatrice A.
DeSapio is actively involved in the Community School District 20
Leadership Team, Marien Heim Towers and Marien Heim of Sunset Park, and
St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Beatrice A. DeSapio is an inspiration to many people, and
her dedication and commitment to her community has proven her to be the
epitome of true leadership; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for Beatrice A. DeSapio and to wish
her continued success in all of her future endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Beatrice A. DeSapio upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York,
Inc. on June 21, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Beatrice A. DeSapio.
