HONORING Kenneth D. Gibbs upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Housing and
Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on June
21, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kenneth D. Gibbs upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc., to
be celebrated at its Annual Carole Jayson Memorial Dinner on Thursday,
June 21, 2018, at Rex Manor, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Gibbs has served in the esteemed position of
President and CEO of Maimonides Medical Center since January of 2016;
and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Kenneth D. Gibbs, Maimonides
has continued to build upon its legacy of clinical excellence and
innovation, achieving designation as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke
Center and establishing Brooklyn's only Pediatric Trauma Center and
Comprehensive Spine Center; and
WHEREAS, In each of the last two years, Maimonides' renowned Heart &
Vascular Institute has been recognized by the State of New York for
outstanding clinical outcomes; additionally, the Maimonides full-service
Cancer Center, the only one in the borough, was one of just two in the
State to earn the Commission on Cancer's Outstanding Achievement Award
in 2016; and
WHEREAS, Prior to leading Maimonides, Kenneth D. Gibbs spent 30
years in the Municipal Finance Industry; he was President of the
Municipal Securities Group of Jefferies, LLC, CEO of DEPFA First Albany
Securities, LLC and held several leadership positions at First Albany
Capital, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Gibbs also served as Chair of the Board of
Trustees at Maimonides Medical Center from May of 2014 through December
of 2015, during which time he was instrumental in the Center's newly
formed affiliation with Northwell Health; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Gibbs holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Harvard College; he is an inspiration to many people, and his dedication
and commitment to his community has proven him to be the epitome of true
leadership; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for Kenneth D. Gibbs and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kenneth D. Gibbs upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on
June 21, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kenneth D. Gibbs.
