COMMENDING Donald Hobart upon the occasion of his
retirement after 21 years of dedicated service to
the Le Roy Central School Board of Education on June
12, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the life
and accomplishments of individuals whose enduring commitment and
dedication significantly enhance the quality of education in their
community; and
WHEREAS, The American public school system is a treasured
institution; those individuals, such as Donald Hobart, who work to
improve our schools and ensure that all children have access to quality
educational programs merit the highest commendation of this Legislative
Body; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Donald Hobart upon the occasion of his retirement after 21 years
of dedicated service to the Le Roy Central School Board of Education to
be celebrated at a Board Meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2018; and
WHEREAS, For over two decades, Donald Hobart has been a vital member
of the Le Roy Central School Board of Education, 15 of which, he served
as President; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Donald Hobart has chaired all of the
Board's committees, including budget and finance, audit, policy,
negotiations and instruction; and
WHEREAS, Donald Hobart also worked with lawmakers and his fellow
board members on various issues such as mandate relief, reforming the
3020-a teacher disciplinary process, expanding the role of BOCES, and
both property tax and pension reform; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his work with Le Roy Central School, Donald
Hobart held the title of President of the Genesee Valley School Boards
Association, and worked for Kodak, the position from which he retired;
and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to the Le Roy
Central School community, Donald Hobart was named the NYSSBA Advocate of
the Year in 2010; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Dixie, their three
children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, all of whom
have shown him love and support and rejoice in his many achievements;
and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man truly believes in the children of the
Le Roy Central School District, demonstrating an impressive dedication,
an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm to continually
improving the quality of educational programs and opportunities offered
to its faculty and students as well as for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Donald Hobart diligently worked to
improve the district, making it a place where students could thrive and
flourish, and providing them the tools and skills to become successful
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Donald Hobart has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Le Roy Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Donald Hobart upon the occasion of his retirement after 21 years
of dedicated service to the Le Roy Central School Board of Education on
June 12, 2018, and to wish him continued success in all his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Donald Hobart.
