CONGRATULATING Carlita Griffith, LMSW upon the
occasion of her retirement after 36 years of
dedicated service to the New York State Office of
Mental Health at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Carlita Griffith, LMSW upon the occasion of her retirement
after 36 years of dedicated service to the New York State Office of
Mental Health at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Queens, New York, Carlita Griffith
graduated from August Martin High School before receiving her Bachelor
of Arts degree in Psychology from York College; she went on to earn her
Master of Science degree in Social Work from Adelphi University; and
WHEREAS, Carlita Griffith began her career with Creedmoor
Psychiatric Center in December of 1988 as an Intensive Care Manager; she
tirelessly served in that capacity until 2011, when she was promoted to
Coordinator/Supervisor, the esteemed position from which she will
retire; and
WHEREAS, In fulfilling this role, Carlita Griffith provides clinical
supervision and direction to 10 Intensive Case Managers/Care
Coordinators and 153 chronic and persistent mentally ill adults; she is
also responsible for the review and coordination of assigned cases, case
planning, and consumer discharges; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary woman serves as Creedmoor
Psychiatric Center's Community Service Trainer; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious tenure, Carlita Griffith was
instrumental in the creation of the Adult Home Rockaway Recreation
Project which serves more than 500 individuals who reside in the Far
Rockaway Adult Home system; and
WHEREAS, Carlita Griffith also developed the Cultural Diversity
Celebration Program for staff and consumers during various holidays to
enhance community understanding and respect for all cultural groups; and
WHEREAS, An ordained elder since 2006, Carlita Griffith is an active
member of the International Good News Fellowship in Hicksville; and
WHEREAS, For the past 36 years, Carlita Griffith rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Creedmoor Psychiatric Center,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 34 years,
Mark, and their two children, Christopher and Imani, who have all shown
her love and support and rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Carlita Griffith over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Carlita Griffith, LMSW upon the occasion of her retirement
after 36 years of dedicated service to the New York State Office of
Mental Health at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carlita Griffith, LMSW.
