HONORING Elizabeth Miller upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Trailblazers Award
by the Women's Fund of the Capital Region on March
10, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Elizabeth Miller upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Trailblazers Award by the Women's Fund of the Capital Region, to be
celebrated at its 9th Annual Trailblazers Awards Luncheon on Friday,
March 10, 2017, at Glen Sanders Mansion, Scotia, New York; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Miller has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she has been selected for this
auspicious award for her generosity, spirit and leadership in blazing
trails to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in the
community; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unremitting dedication to helping
others, Elizabeth Miller has spent decades serving her community; she
has devoted more than 20 years as an active community member and
volunteer; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Miller is the Executive Director of the Capital
District Women's Employment & Resource Center (WERC), one of 13 centers
throughout New York State that help displaced homemakers find
employment; her passion for the Center started more than two decades ago
when she was hired as the Training Coordinator, developing the
employment network still used today; and

WHEREAS, In her current position, Elizabeth Miller is responsible
for WERC's operations and ensuring the overall success of the agency;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Elizabeth Miller has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Elizabeth Miller, that future generations may know and appreciate their
admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and their respect and
esteem in which they are held by their peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Elizabeth Miller upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Trailblazers Award by the Women's Fund of the Capital Region on
March 10, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Elizabeth Miller.
