HONORING James Granata upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor James
Granata upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a Breakfast
on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, James Granata has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and
WHEREAS, A student at Minisink Valley High School, James Granata has
a 98.2 GPA and is ranked 9th in his class; he is a member of the
National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America, as well
as a SOARS Conference participant; in addition, he received the Five
Years Perfect Attendance Award; and
WHEREAS, James Granata is a vital member of the Indoor and Outdoor
Track and Field, Cross Country and Soccer Teams; he holds the school
record in the 3,200 meter and is a state qualifier in cross country; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, James Granata gives tirelessly
of his time and energies volunteering with the Minisink Valley PTO,
Minisink Valley Middle School child care program and the Salvation Army
clothing drive; and
WHEREAS, James Granata plans to attend the Industrial and Labor
Relations School at Cornell University where he will also run cross
country and track; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, James Granata
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, James Granata may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and
WHEREAS, James Granata represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James Granata upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James Granata.
