HONORING St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute upon
the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
2018 Kenny Award for Outstanding Performance by an
Ensemble
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples
cannot be underestimated; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those organizations and individuals whose commitment and
creative talents have contributed to the entertainment and cultural
enrichment of the citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the 2018 Kenny Award for Outstanding Performance by an
Ensemble; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion was celebrated at the 25th
Anniversary Kenny Awards Ceremony and Kenny Day on Saturday, May 12,
2018, at Shea's Performing Arts Center, Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Kenny Award was created in 1993, in honor of the late
Dr. Ken Lipke, the founder of Gibraltar Steel; this prestigious award
is a testament to his passion and dedication to the arts and his belief
in the arts as an integral component of society; and
WHEREAS, Music study is most worthy of being encouraged and
promoted, as it provides an opportunity for students to exhibit their
skills to an audience, thereby giving them self-esteem to last a
lifetime; and
WHEREAS, St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's depiction of the
Statues and Gargoyles from their presentation of The Hunchback of Notre
Dame garnered its gifted students a Kenny Award for Outstanding
Performance by an Ensemble; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the importance of the
performing arts, dance and music, which act to inspire, enlighten, and
unify people from all cultural backgrounds through the transcendent
power of human expression; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2018 Kenny Award for Outstanding
Performance by an Ensemble; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, Buffalo, New York.
