MOURNING the death of Lisa A. Scheuermann,
Emergency Services Dispatcher, first responder and
devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that the quality
of life in the communities across the great State of New York is
enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of individuals
who devote themselves to the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Scheuermann of Goshen, New York died on Sunday, May
13, 2018, at the age of 57; and
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Scheuermann was born to Douglas and Patricia
(Barber) Hehn on April 25, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; after
graduating from high school in 1979, she earned her degree from Oklahoma
State University; and
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Scheuermann distinguished herself in her profession
and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, For 28 years, Lisa A. Scheuermann served as an Emergency
Services Dispatcher for the Town of New Windsor Police Department; she
was also a travel agent, and an EMT/First Aid/CPR instructor who trained
hundreds of local EMTs and police officers; and
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Scheuermann's commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which she lived, worked and
played, Lisa A. Scheuermann was a 35-year member of the Goshen Volunteer
Ambulance Corps (GOVAC), an associate member of the Cataract Engine and
Hose Company, and an Orange County EMS Deputy Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Mama," by hundreds of first
responders from throughout the county, Lisa A. Scheuermann was known as
someone who cared more than most; she always went the extra mile, making
it her responsibility to check in on a corps members who might have
experienced a bad call; and
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Scheuermann was always looking for ways to help
GOVAC; after pursuing various grant opportunities, she was instrumental
in providing "Annies," the doll-like figures used to teach CPR
techniques, and several other pieces of vital equipment to the corps;
and
WHEREAS, When she was not working or helping someone, Lisa A.
Scheuermann loved to spend time with her family, enjoyed traveling and
country music, and was a huge Walt Disney fan; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her mother, Patricia B. Hehn, Lisa A.
Scheuermann is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bill Scheuermann;
her father, Douglas Hehn; one daughter, Shannon (Wayne) Stansfield; one
son, Charles (Michelle) Gambuti; two sisters, Pamela Hehn and Beth Hehn;
one stepbrother, Tony Inda; one stepsister, Jan Bayless, and several
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a legion of
fellow first responders who will long treasurer her memory; and
WHEREAS, Lisa A. Scheuermann's family feels truly blessed to have
known and loved her; she was a devoted mother and a beloved wife who
dedicated her life to caring for her family; she will be remembered as a
warm and caring friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her meritorious life, Lisa A. Scheuermann
touched many through her kindness and commitment to service, and, as we
recall the loss of this remarkable woman, we memorialize her remarkable
life and the enormous impact she had on everyone with whom she came in
contact; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of a devoted
dispatcher and first responder who dedicated her purposeful life and
career in faithful service to her family and community; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Lisa A. Scheuermann, Emergency Services Dispatcher,
first responder and devoted member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Lisa A. Scheuermann.
