COMMEMORATING the 27th Anniversary of the Emmanuel
Baptist Church

WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and

WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
27th Anniversary of the Emmanuel Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, In November of 1990, Reverend Anthony Lavay Trufant was
appointed as Pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church; in this capacity, he
has overseen its exponential growth in membership and programming and
has raised its profile as one of the most innovative, effective "glocal"
churches in the Metro New York area; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Reverend Anthony Lavay Trufant has
brought to his ministry an overwhelming spirit of charity and
compassion, acting from vision and enlightenment in conducting his
administrative and spiritual duties, while always displaying the highest
standards of personal and professional integrity and dedication; and

WHEREAS, For 27 years, the Emmanuel Baptist Church has strived to
Connect People to Jesus Christ by gathering to celebrate him daily and
weekly; growing through both small group and study groups; giving money
and minutes to church and community, local, national and global; and
sharing the love of Jesus Christ, in word and deed with those within our
ever-expanding circle of influence, family, friends, neighbors, and
co-workers; and

WHEREAS, The Emmanuel Baptist Church stands on the threshold of
tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 27th Anniversary of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, fully
confident that this commemoration reflects the belief in those values
which enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend Anthony Lavay Trufant, Emmanuel Baptist
Church.
