MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
October 14, 2018, as Clergy Appreciation Day in the
State of New York
WHEREAS, The spiritual guidance and nurturing of the citizens of the
State of New York is of great importance to the vitality and well-being
of our communities; and
WHEREAS, Instrumental in that deliverance are those men and women of
religious commitment who accept the responsibility of moral leadership
and render the wisdom of human understanding; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim October 14, 2018, as Clergy
Appreciation Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Clergy Appreciation Day; and
WHEREAS, Clergy Appreciation Day is observed on the second Sunday in
October, and is a time to recognize the work of ministers, pastors, and
priests in the United States; and
WHEREAS, This National day also falls in National Clergy Month,
which is observed each October; and
WHEREAS, Clergy Appreciation Day was established by Hallmark Cards
in 1992, and was originally referred to as Clergy Appreciation National
Day of Honor; many people also refer to the day as Pastor Appreciation
Day; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those men and women of religious
commitment who accept the responsibility of moral leadership and render
the wisdom of human understanding; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim October 14, 2018, as
Clergy Appreciation Day in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
