CONGRATULATING Jacob Wadsworth upon the occasion
of winning the 2018 New York State Public High
School Athletic Association, Division II, Pentathlon
Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can only be
achieved by those outstanding individuals who demonstrate the qualities
that lead to success in athletics, academics and life in this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize
those young people within our community who, by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought pride to
their school district and community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Jacob Wadsworth upon the occasion of winning the 2018 New
York State Public High School Athletic Association, Division II,
Pentathlon Championship; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Wadsworth is a state champion, earning first place in
the Division II, Pentathlon competition at the 2018 New York State
Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at Cicero-North Syracuse High
School; and

WHEREAS, This victory is a historic one for the school district as
Jacob is Dansville's first state champion in the Pentathlon (Division
II), by scoring 3,170 points; the pentathlon consists of five events
which include: high hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and a 1500m
run; the stamina and endurance to compete in five events is incredible,
and more notably to perform at a state championship level is even more
impressive; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Wadsworth also shares this victory with his family
and Track and Field Coach, Matt Quibell; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Wadsworth is the MVP of the Track and Field Team, and
was undefeated in the pentathlon at every invitational during the
season; he was also MVP of the Cross Country team and Captain of the
Basketball Team, demonstrating his athletic skill and well-rounded
talent; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Wadsworth's ability to also excel in the classroom is
evident as he is the Treasurer of the National Honor Society and is
ranked Number 10 in his class; Jacob is an outstanding example for other
students to look up to both athletically and academically; he clearly
has a very bright future ahead of him; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those high school athlete-scholars who have achieved notable
success in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jacob Wadsworth for earning the 2018 New York State Public
High School Athletic Association, Division II, Pentathlon Championship;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jacob Wadsworth.
