CONGRATULATING Curbell Inc. upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Sustainable
Materials Management Award by the Environmental
Protection Agency

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the
continuing welfare of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly
enriched and reliably served by the purposeful endeavors of
organizations and individuals who are committed to the preservation of
our natural environment and the enhancement of the appreciation of the
distinctive features of our surroundings, and to the economic well-being
of the areas in which they exist; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Curbell Inc. upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Sustainable Materials Management Award by the
Environmental Protection Agency; this momentous occasion was celebrated
with a Ceremony in January of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
recognizes regional and national winners as top performers with its
Sustainable Materials Management program; and

WHEREAS, Participants who elect to be part of the program must
demonstrate how they reduce waste, practice environmental stewardship
and incorporate sustainable materials management into their
waste-handling processes; and

WHEREAS, Orchard Park-based Curbell Inc. was recognized with this
auspicious award for its performance in environmental responsibility and
sustainability; and

WHEREAS, Curbell has had a strong environmental impact during the
past several years including maintaining zero landfill status in its two
largest facilities in Orchard Park, and in diverting more than 2.25
million pounds of waste from landfills through its recycling,
repurposing and sustainability programs; and

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon all citizens to recognize and applaud
the efforts of organizations and individuals who work tirelessly on
behalf of protecting our natural surroundings for the benefit of present
and future generations of New Yorkers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Curbell Inc. upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Sustainable Materials Management Award by the
Environmental Protection Agency; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Curbell Inc.
