HONORING the Knights of Columbus Council No. 14560
upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the distinction of Star Council Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishments whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of
the citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Knights of Columbus Council No. 14560 of Mamakating, New York upon
the occasion of its designation as recipient of the distinction of Star
Council Award at their Annual Christmas Celebration on December 14,
2016; and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic
organization with over 1.7 million members worldwide in over 14,000
Councils throughout the world; it is dedicated to working for the
Catholic Church, community, and fellow man; in 2015, the Knights of
Columbus contributed several million dollars and rendered over 74
million hours of volunteer service hours of personal service to
charitable and benevolent activities; and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Council No. 14560 has received the
distinction of Star Council, the organization's top award for overall
excellence in the areas of membership, promotion of the fraternal
insurance program, and sponsorship of service-oriented activities; and
WHEREAS, This award is not only a reflection of this council and its
members, but is a testament to the wonderful spirit of community in the
Town of Mamakating; and
WHEREAS, In the preceding year, Mamakating Council No. 14560
instituted a scholarship program serving six school districts in
Sullivan and Orange counties as well as donating hundreds of hours of
service and thousands of dollars in charitable donations to the local
community; and
WHEREAS, It is with great admiration that this Legislative Body
applauds the efforts of all the individuals involved in this vital
organization, and to recognize their unwavering devotion to improving
the quality of life for others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Knights of Columbus Council No. 14560 upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the distinction of Star Council Award; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Knights of Columbus Council No. 14560.
