CONGRATULATING the Village of Orchard Park, New
York, upon the occasion of being ranked the number
one Western New York village with the best
quality-of-life by Buffalo Business First
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor and
commemorate those distinguished communities which comprise the noble
body of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The United States is filled with incredible villages, each
with its own set of credentials and clout to attract visitors from
around the world; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Village of Orchard Park, New York, upon the occasion of
being ranked the number one Western New York village with the best
quality-of-life by Buffalo Business First; and
WHEREAS, Buffalo Business First is an invaluable source for business
and career news in Western New York; each year the newspaper ranks
cities and villages with their 50-part quality-of-life formula taken
from a statistical analysis of 976 upstate communities; and
WHEREAS, Each city or village's entry includes its 2014 population
(as estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau), county, quality-of-life score
and percentile; and
WHEREAS, Of the five villages ranked for quality-of-life in Western
New York, Orchard Park was ranked number one; and
WHEREAS, The highest scores went to well-rounded communities, with
robust employment bases and income levels, strong records of growth and
residential stability, impressive housing stocks and transportation
systems, excellent schools, established traditions of racial and gender
diversity and equity, and positive environments for children as well as
senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1850, the Village of Orchard Park is
located in the western part of New York State in Erie County; early
settlers transformed a vast wilderness into a lovely community through a
strong work ethic, a strong sense of fairness, and a spirit of harmony;
and
WHEREAS, The first citizens of Orchard Park built beautiful homes,
churches, and public places which represent their culture, lifestyle,
and values; their architectural vestiges give character to the Village's
tranquil byways and have served to inspire modern likenesses; and
WHEREAS, Today, the residents of Orchard Park enjoy a superior
centralized school system, many cultural opportunities such as the
Orchard Park Symphony, the summer Pavilion, and the Quaker Arts
Festival, and a generally serene lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Mayor Jo Ann Litwin
Clinton, the residents of the Village of Orchard Park have a bright
outlook for the future of their community, which remains a beautiful
place in which to live and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, Remaining fruitful over the ebb and flow of decades of
growth and change, the Village of Orchard Park continues its commitment
to enhancing the quality of life of its citizens, ensuring a positive
business, institutional and educational climate, and providing all
essential services; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Village of Orchard Park upon the occasion of being
ranked the number one Western New York village with the best
quality-of-life by Buffalo Business First, and to enthusiastically
salute its residents as they celebrate this auspicious occasion; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jo Ann Litwin Clinton, Mayor, Village of Orchard Park.
