COMMEMORATING the 25th Anniversary of the Gotham
Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. on March
12, 2017

WHEREAS, In the course of the evolving development of this Empire
State, if the ingredients of shared concern and responsive endeavor
combine in the commitment to society, there have emerged among the
distinguished citizens of the State of New York certain organizations
which warrant special recognition; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Gotham Chapter of Top Ladies of
Distinction, Inc., to be celebrated on Sunday, March 12, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Chartered on September 8, 1964, in Tyler, Texas, Top Ladies
of Distinction (TLOD), Inc. is a non-profit professional humanitarian,
educational and interracial organization; and

WHEREAS, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. is composed of
distinguished women throughout the country who are interested in the
well-being of all individuals, and in the preservation of values
significant to wholesome living; and

WHEREAS, The Gotham Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. was
established on April 25, 1992 by 12 ladies who had a vision to serve the
Queens Nassau areas; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Gotham Chapter of Top
Ladies of Distinction enhances the status of all women, implements
programs for its youth, and enriches the optimal living of its senior
citizens; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this vital organization has been instrumental
in keeping America beautiful by enhancing the communities which we live
through beautification, green living, sustainability, and the fostering
of an eco-friendly lifestyle; and

WHEREAS, Through its Top Teens of America program, the Gotham
Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. provides opportunities for
the healthy development of youth through activities which will enhance
educational, social, moral, spiritual, cultural and emotional
development; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to the community, the Gotham Chapter of Top
Ladies of Distinction, Inc. maintains numerous community partnerships
some of which include, the Ronald McDonald House, Dress for Success, the
National Association of the Advancement of Colored People, the National

Council of Negro Women, and the National Caucus of the Black Aged, Inc.;
and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 25 year history, the Gotham Chapter
of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. has demonstrated continuous service
to the residents and communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Gotham Chapter of Top Ladies of
Distinction, Inc. is in direct correlation to the efforts of its
members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Gotham Chapter of
Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Gotham Chapter of Top Ladies of
Distinction, Inc. on March 12, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Gotham Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.
