COMMEMORATING Brooklyn's Irish-American Heritage
Celebration to be held March 17, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to the cultural heritage of the ethnic groups which
comprise and contribute to the richness and diversity of the community
of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate Brooklyn's Irish-American Heritage Celebration to be held at
Brooklyn Borough Hall, Brooklyn, New York, on Friday, March 17, 2017;
and
WHEREAS, New York State is home to a large population of
Irish-Americans who have made significant contributions to the freedom,
liberty, culture, and economic well-being to both the State of New York
and the Nation as a whole; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to observe those cultural
events of true purpose and worthy accomplishment that provide
opportunities to celebrate their rich ethnic flavor and which strive to
preserve their heritage; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when events
of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate Brooklyn's Irish-American Heritage Celebration to be held
March 17, 2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brooklyn's Irish-American Heritage Celebration's Planning
Committee.
