CONGRATULATING Tyler Witazek upon the occasion of
capturing First Place in the Scott's Major League
Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition on June 25,
2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have brought
pride to their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Tyler Witazek upon the occasion of capturing First Place in
the Scott's Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition on
Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born on December 11, 2007, to loving parents Maria and Joe
Witazek, Tyler Witazek is the older brother to Noah and grandson of
Raphael and Marie Vitello, and Joe and Gerry Witazek; and
WHEREAS, A resident of the town of Bethlehem, New York, Tyler
Witazek will be entering the third grade this fall at Westmere
Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, Inspired by his favorite players and role models, Mark
Teixeira and Mariano Rivera, Tyler Witazek has strenuously practiced his
baseball skills, and has diligently followed a standard of healthy
living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of fair
play and competition; and
WHEREAS, After winning both the local and Regional Scott's Major
League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition and placing third in the
country at Yankee Stadium, Tyler Witazek has earned the chance to
compete at the National Competition at the MLB All-Star game celebration
in San Diego, California, on July 11, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man was one of 625,000 competitors
who participated in over 4,600 local competitions to reach the finals in
San Diego; in addition, Tyler Witazek's victory at Yankee Stadium awards
him a seat at the MLB All-Star Game and a position as a fielder in the
MLB Home Run Derby Competition; and
WHEREAS, A right handed first baseman and pitcher with a slugging
percentage of .889, 24 hits, 15 RBIs and an E.R.A. of zero, Tyler
Witazek is a vital part of his team at Guilderland Little League and a
Bulldog on the Guilderland Travel Baseball Team; and
WHEREAS, A multi-talented athlete, Tyler Witazek also likes to play
basketball, and is the 3-time winner of The Schwest Run, an annual cross
country event at Westmere Elementary; and
WHEREAS, When Tyler Witazek is not playing sports, he enjoys rooting
for the Yankees, and is an active member of the Christ the King Youth
Ministry Program, as well as a talented artist, displaying his work at
the Guilderland Town Library; and
WHEREAS, Tyler Witazek's overall record is outstanding, and he was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his young life, Tyler Witazek has continuously
displayed his natural athletic ability, good sportsmanship, and honor,
demonstrating that he is second to none; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Tyler Witazek has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition at his school and
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Tyler Witazek upon the occasion of capturing First Place in
the Scott's Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition on June
25, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tyler Witazek.
