HONORING Anthony and Dolores Pennachio, Sr. upon
the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by the Federation of Italian-American
Organizations of Brooklyn, Ltd. on March 26, 2017
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Anthony and Dolores Pennachio, Sr. have given not only of
their time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Anthony and Dolores Pennachio, Sr. upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the Federation of
Italian-American Organizations of Brooklyn, Ltd. to be celebrated at its
40th Annual Gala on Sunday, March 26, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Federation of Italian-American Organizations of
Brooklyn, Ltd. (FIAO) is a community based organization assisting
individuals and families in the Italian-American community; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Pennachio, Sr. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New
York; he graduated from Xavarian High school and went on to earn a
bachelor's degree from St. Francis College; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, Anthony Pennachio is a
founding member of the St. Bernard's Knights of Columbus No. 14269; he
is also active in Kiwanis International, the Lions Club, the AMA, and
the Bikers of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Pennachio sits on the Board of Directors of the Ben
Bay Kiwanis Club; he is a fourth degree knight and a lifetime NRA
member; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his volunteer associations, Anthony
Pennachio has been the successful business owner of Floral Fantasy of
Bay Ridge and ASP Graphics, while managing Scarpaci Funeral Home in
Dyker Heights for the past 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Pennachio was also born and raised in Brooklyn,
where she attended Sheepshead Bay High school; and
WHEREAS, A homemaker who devoted herself to making a loving home for
her family, Dolores Pennachio has been an active member of the Home
Academy of St. Bernard's Catholic Academy since 2015; and
WHEREAS, Dolores Pennachio is an active board member of
Pletrosfight.org, a non-profit organization which raises funds and
awareness on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; she also supports such
organizations as the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and
Toys for Tots; and
WHEREAS, A class mom since 2005 at St. Bernard Catholic Academy,
Dolores Pennachio organizes children's events within the school to teach
the younger generation the importance of giving back; and
WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their three children,
Anthony Jr., Vinny and Darrien, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of their lives and rejoice in their achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Anthony and Dolores
Pennachio, Sr. have displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anthony and Dolores Pennachio, Sr. upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the Federation of
Italian-American Organizations of Brooklyn, Ltd. on March 26, 2017; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anthony and Dolores Pennachio, Sr.
