COMMENDING Jennifer O'Brien upon the occasion of
her designation as the 2018 New York State Mother of
the Year by American Mothers
WHEREAS, Individuals who devote their lives to raising their
families to enable them to build lives of dignity and self-worth are
deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer O'Brien has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her love, competence, intelligence and leadership
and consequently has been designated for special honor by American
Mothers; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Jennifer
O'Brien upon the occasion of her designation as the 2018 New York State
Mother of the Year by American Mothers, which was celebrated at a
ceremony in Washington, DC from April 21-24, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer O'Brien, of Binghamton, New York, is the proud
mother of two children, Paige and Maggie and her extended "kids" from
Canada to France and here in New York; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer O'Brien has dedicated her life to raising her
family with humor and compassion and love; blessed with two children,
she and her husband Paul, are a terrific team; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer O'Brien has raised loving and caring individuals,
serving as a testament to their mother, while constantly giving her
undivided and individual love; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her responsibilities as a wife and mother,
Jennifer O'Brien serves her community as the Executive Director of Life
Is Washable, Inc.; under her luminous leadership, this vital
organization has helped over 50,000 participants through its creative
family engagement programming; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer O'Brien also holds the title of Executive Director
of the American Special Hockey Association, and developed Friendly
Access Sensory Safety Kits which are available in sports venues
throughout the United States and Fair Play Adaptive Athletics; and
WHEREAS, This dynamic woman worked on the OurSpace Project at
Recreation Park, resulting in the construction of a fully accessible
play space for people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, When Jennifer O'Brien is not taking care of her family or
helping someone, she works for Health Processes, Inc., where she leads a
talented team in serving individuals with special needs and their
families; and
WHEREAS, A strong, compassionate woman who truly loves her children,
Jennifer O'Brien is constantly juggling caring for her children, with
her volunteer work and her job, never missing a game or event; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Jennifer O'Brien takes
pride in her family and they, in turn, respect the value of motherhood;
and
WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and
colorful threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and
continue to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society, especially the
important role of mother; Jennifer O'Brien represents a model of
professional, community and family life worthy of emulation; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jennifer O'Brien upon the occasion of her designation as the
2018 New York State Mother of the Year by American Mothers; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jennifer O'Brien.
