MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
June 2018, as Homeownership Month in the State of
New York, in conjunction with the observance of
National Homeownership Month
WHEREAS, For generations, homeownership has been a source of
security, comfort and pride for families across our State; and
WHEREAS, Owning a home provides a pathway for New Yorkers to build a
brighter future and achieve greater stability and economic prosperity
for themselves and their families; and
WHEREAS, Homeownership enables residents to create strong social
connections and establish long-term investments in their neighborhoods;
and
WHEREAS, Homeownership is associated with increased civic engagement
and participation in religious and volunteer organizations, higher test
scores and high school graduation rates, and better physical and
psychological health outcomes; and
WHEREAS, Helping more New Yorkers achieve the dream of homeownership
will strengthen our communities and bolster our State's economy; and
WHEREAS, It is vital that we educate the public on the benefits of
purchasing a home and offer the information and support to make
responsible homeownership accessible and sustainable for families in New
York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 2018, as
Homeownership Month in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Homeownership Month; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the
State of New York.
