CONGRATULATING Sergeant Roger Misso, Jr. upon the
occasion of his retirement after 30 years of
distinguished service to the New York State Police
and the New York Army National Guard

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, The quality of life in these communities is largely
reflective of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of
the agencies which serve to protect, preserve and maintain public order;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Sergeant Roger Misso, Jr. upon the occasion of his
retirement after 30 years of distinguished service to the New York State
Police and the New York Army National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Roger Misso,
Jr. is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Born on March 25, 1965, to Roger and Phyllis Misso, Sr.,
Roger Misso, Jr. graduated from Albion High School; and

WHEREAS, Roger and Sandra Misso, Jr. were united in marriage on
November 29, 1986, at St. Joseph's Church in Albion, and together they
raised three children, Roger III, Joshua and Erica; and

WHEREAS, Roger Misso, Jr. began his illustrious career in law
enforcement with the New York State Police on October 2, 1989; and

WHEREAS, One of the first School Resource Officers in New York
State, Roger Misso, Jr. developed a curriculum to help demystify
interactions with the police for high school students; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Roger Misso, Jr. never complained
about taking extra shifts or working nights to support other troopers
and those under his leadership; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he always made time to meet troopers in the
field when they had questions or were in a tough spot, never hiding
behind his desk; and

WHEREAS, Commissioned to the New York Army National Guard on May 10,
1987, Roger Misso, Jr. deployed to Khost, Afghanistan with the 27th
Brigade Combat Team in 2008; and


WHEREAS, In his retirement, Roger Misso, Jr. plans to become active
in the local community and enjoy time with his two grandchildren, Amelia
and Carson; and

WHEREAS, For three decades, Roger Misso, Jr. rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the New York State Police, earning
him the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sergeant Roger Misso, Jr. upon the occasion of his
retirement after 30 years of distinguished service to the New York State
Police and the New York Army National Guard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sergeant Roger Misso, Jr.
