HONORING Marie Lusins upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Eugene A. Bettiol,
Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the Otsego County
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
in the best interest of their communities are an asset beyond
remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Marie Lusins has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Marie Lusins
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Eugene A.
Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the Otsego County Chamber of
Commerce, to be recognized at its Annual Spring Dinner celebrating
"Sustainable Success in Otsego County" on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at
SUNY Oneonta; and

WHEREAS, Since 1986, the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce has
served the businesses and communities of Otsego County with programs and
services designed to foster strong economic growth and make the county a
great place to live and work; and

WHEREAS, Marie Lusins has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, A staunch community advocate, Marie Lusins has been
promoting and actively leading new community projects for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Marie Lusins has served on the Town of Oneonta Board and
has represented Oneonta at functions and meetings in Cooperstown and
Albany, New York, as well as in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Marie Lusins has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Marie Lusins has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Marie Lusins, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marie Lusins upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the Otsego
County Chamber of Commerce, and to wish her continued success in all of
her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Marie Lusins.
