COMMENDING James P. Carver upon the occasion of
his retirement after 22 years of dedicated service
to the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association
on March 23, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
esteemed individuals who distinguish themselves in service to the cause
of working men and women in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend James P.
Carver upon the occasion of his retirement after 22 years of dedicated
service to the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association, to be
celebrated at a Retirement Party on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the
Coral House, in Baldwin, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in East Rockaway, New York, James P. Carver
is the son of the late Lieutenant William F. and Rosemary Carver; and
WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, James P. Carver joined
the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in 1982; four years later, he
became a member of the Nassau County Police Department where he was
assigned to the 4th Precinct; and
WHEREAS, Always concerned for the well-being of his police brothers
and sisters, James P. Carver held numerous leadership positions within
the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association (PBA) including:
Delegate, Trustee, and Vice-President; since 2008, he has served as
President, a title from which he will officially retire on March 23,
2017; and
WHEREAS, In addition, James P. Carver has been actively involved in
the Public Employees Conference of New York, the New York State
Association of PBA's, and the National Association of Police
Organizations; and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, James P. Carver was the recipient of the Community Service
Award; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Donna (Warner)
Carver; his two sons, James R. and Shauna L.; and two grandsons, James
E. and Matthew W., all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life
and rejoice in his accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which James P. Carver has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend James P. Carver upon the occasion of his retirement after 22
years of dedicated service to the Nassau County Police Benevolence
Association, and to wish him continued success in all his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James P. Carver.
