COMMENDING Sanah Susan Naber, Principal of the
Vive School and Overseer of Pathways to Success, in
conjunction with Women's History Month, for her
unwavering commitment to the community of Yonkers,
New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within the Empire State who
have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sanah Susan Naber, Principal of The Vive School Overseer of Pathways to
Success, in conjunction with Women's History Month, for her unwavering
commitment to the families and communities of Yonkers, New York; and

WHEREAS, Women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made
invaluable contributions to the growth and strength of New York State in
countless recorded and unrecorded ways; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the State of New York officially sets aside time
to recognize the achievements and lives of these exemplary women,
representatives of the wide-ranging and vital roles women have played in
the historic development of this great Empire State and its communities;
and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Yonkers, Sanah Susan Naber has
enhanced the lives of thousands of people with her program, Pathways to
Success, an adult education program which serves the needs of Yonkers
residents with a diverse range of services, including English for
Speakers of Other Languages, National External Diploma, Vocational
Training and High School Diploma Preparation Programs; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception in 2007, Pathways to Success has served
more than 25,000 adult students; this vital organization also helped the
influx of immigrants that have moved to Yonkers by providing legal
services and information to help them become active citizens within the
community; and

WHEREAS, Sanah Susan Naber established the Family Welcome Center
(FWC) at The Vive School, to address issues which interfere with
students' ability to focus on their education, or their children's
education, where counselors refer individuals to Literacy Zone partner
agencies to help them resolve a wide range of issues; to further
complement the FWC initiative, Sanah Susan Naber introduced the Family
and Me Program, to help connect families with learning; and

WHEREAS, As Principal of Career Technical Education (CTE), Sanah
Susan Naber obtained two esteemed grants, PTECH and Perkins, which
support career pathways for secondary students; and

WHEREAS, Sanah Susan Naber also holds the position of Executive
Board Member of Yonkers Office of Workforce Development, Member of the
Yonkers City Planning Council, Member of the NYACCE Board of Directors
and Yonkers Representative to the Big Five School Districts for both CTE
and Adult Education; and

WHEREAS, For her dedication to the community, Sanah Susan Naber and
her programs were given the designation of Literacy Zone, which focuses
efforts on communities of concentrated poverty and limited literacy or
English language proficiency; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Sanah Susan Naber received the prestigious
2013 Youth Development Award by the YMCA and was recognized by Catholic
Charities for her efforts to provide English Language Courses,
vocational training, legal services, citizenship assistance and more to
the day laborers in Yonkers for Pathways to Success; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her two daughters, Gabriella
and Sara, and her extended family, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sanah Susan Naber, Principal of The Vive School and Overseer of
Pathways to Success, in conjunction with Women's History Month, for her
unwavering commitment to the community of Westchester County; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sanah Susan Naber, Principal The Vive School and Overseer
of Pathways to Success.
