COMMENDING President and CEO Ronald T. Silverio
upon the occasion of his retirement after 28 years
of distinguished service to Evergreen Association of
WNY, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend President and CEO Ronald T. Silverio upon the occasion of his
retirement after 28 years of distinguished service to Evergreen
Association of WNY, Inc.; he officially retired from this position on
December 31, 2016; and

WHEREAS, A visionary leader, Ronald T. Silverio is synonymous with
Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc.; he will fondly be remembered for his
tenacity, compassion and boundless energy; and

WHEREAS, The Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc. is a multi-agency
group, incorporated as a non-profit organization, working collectively
to address the health care and related needs of individuals and families
living in the eight counties of Western New York; and

WHEREAS, Governed by an independent Board of Directors, the
Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc. is the parent corporation of three
non-profit service providers: Evergreen Health, Community Access
Services and WNY and the Pride Center of WNY; and

WHEREAS, This valuable medical institution offers specialty health
care, primary care, housing, care coordination, pharmacy services,
counseling, testing, substance user health services and syringe exchange
programs in Buffalo and Jamestown; and

WHEREAS, Each year, Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc. treats about
4,000 patients in its primary and specialty Care practice, and helps
another 11,000 clients throughout its other support service and
programs; and

WHEREAS, Ronald T. Silverio began his illustrious career with
Evergreen Association of WNY, Inc. in 1988; he quickly rose through the
ranks, holding the esteemed title of both President and CEO for numerous
years; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Ronald T. Silverio was instrumental in
growing this vital health care organization from six original employees
to over 300 and increasing the agency's budget; and

WHEREAS, Ronald T. Silverio also oversaw the development of six
properties, including construction of a major building addition which

will soon open at the agency's South Elmwood Avenue headquarters; the
new building nearly triples the capacity for the health care practice
and provides new administrative offices and room for other programs in
the building to expand; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Ronald T. Silverio helped build Evergreen
Association of WNY, Inc. into a model of wrap-around services with
respectful, quality care for those most at risk, the underserved, and
the LGBTQ population; and

WHEREAS, Well-known throughout the healthcare industry, Ronald T.
Silverio was appointed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to the statewide
Ending the Epidemic Task Force in 2015; this committee produced a
blueprint on how to reduce the number of new HIV infections to 750 by
the end of 2020, compared to 3,000 now; and

WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and
responsibilities, Ronald T. Silverio's ongoing efforts and notable
achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and

WHEREAS, Ronald T. Silverio continuously displayed initiative and an
unrelenting commitment when pursuing the highest of goals, and he has
served as a role model of leadership to be emulated by all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend President and CEO Ronald T. Silverio upon the occasion of his
retirement after 28 years of distinguished service to Evergreen
Association of WNY, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ronald T. Silverio.
