HONORING Kevin Murray, Sr. upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the John T. Mather
Founder's Award by the Golf Classic Committee on
June 5, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kevin Murray, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the John T. Mather Founder's Award by the Golf Classic Committee to be
celebrated at its 32nd Annual Mather Golf Classic on Monday, June 5,
2017, at the Port Jefferson Country Club in Port Jefferson, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Kevin Murray, Sr. is receiving this prestigious award for
his steadfast and unremitting commitment to the John T. Mather Memorial
Hospital; and

WHEREAS, This popular annual event helps to raise funds for the
Nursing Education Program at the John T. Mather Memorial Hospital;
better education ensures patients receive the high quality,
cost-effective services they deserve and the health of its community
continues to improve; and

WHEREAS, The Nursing Education Program offers ongoing updates and
training in clinical practices areas whereby, increasing nurses' skill
levels and providing its patients with the best care possible; the John
T. Mather Memorial Hospital has earned the prestigious Magnet
designation which recognizes healthcare organizations for quality
patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing
practices; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Murray, Sr. earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in
Economics and Statistics from the State University of New York in
Oneonta, and his master's degree in Health Services Administration from
the Arizona State University College of Business Administration; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Murray, Sr. began his long and distinguished career
in medical administration as both the Evening Administrator and
Administrative Resident at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso,
Texas, he then served as the Assistant Administrator of Oswego Hospital
in Oswego, New York; and

WHEREAS, in 1980, Kevin Murray, Sr. joined the John T. Mather
Hospital as Assistant Director of Administration; for the last 21 years,
he has served as the Senior Vice President; in this capacity, he
supervises many departments within the Hospital including Bariatrics,
Engineering, Health Information Management, Hospital Design and

Construction, Regulatory Services, Rehabilitation Services, and Risk
Management; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Kevin Murray, Sr. holds the position of the
Hospital's Corporate Compliance Officer and HIPAA Privacy Officer, and
is the Chairman of the Hospital's Performance Improvement Program; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, Kevin Murray, Sr. is a Fellow
of the American College of Health Care Executives, and a member of the
Nassau-Suffolk Health Care Compliance Committee; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his vital work with the John T. Mather
Hospital, Kevin Murray, Sr. is an active member of the Port Jefferson
Rotary Club, and founding co-Chairman of Three Village Meals-On-Wheels
Service; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Murray, Sr.'s ongoing efforts and notable
achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality of
life in his community; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, he continuously displayed initiative
and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the highest of goals, and he
has served as a role model of leadership to be emulated by all; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kevin Murray, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the John T. Mather Founder's Award by the Golf Classic
Committee; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kevin Murray, Sr.
