Assembly Resolution No. 422

MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
May 2017, as Neurofibromatosis Month in the State of
New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official months that are set aside to increase awareness of serious
illnesses that affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 2017, as Neurofibromatosis
Month in the State of New York in conjunction with the observance of
National Neurofibromatosis Month; and
WHEREAS, Neurofibromatosis (NF), a debilitating disorder, affects
more than 100,000 Americans; and
WHEREAS, Neurofibromatosis Northeast has worked for over 25 years on
its mission to find a cure for NF; and
WHEREAS, With a mission to finding a treatment and cure for NF,
Neurofibromatosis Northeast promotes research, creates awareness and
supports those who are affected by NF; and
WHEREAS, Increased awareness of NF will help initiate critical
research; NF patients and their families are determined to make
Neurofibromatosis a household word; and
WHEREAS, It is imperative that there be greater awareness of this
serious health condition, and more must be done to increase activity at
the local, State and National levels; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim May 2017, as
Neurofibromatosis Month in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
