CONGRATULATING the Baldwinsville Girls Varsity
Soccer Team upon the occasion of capturing the
NYSPHSAA Class AA Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive team sports can be
achieved only through rigorous training, mental and physical discipline,
teamwork and a dedicated coaching staff; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young individuals within our community, who by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought great pride
to their school district and community; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team upon the
occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Class AA Championship; and

WHEREAS, Before advancing to the state finals, the Baldwinsville
Girls Varsity Soccer Team won the Section III Championship on October
28, 2017, at SUNY Cortland with a 3-0 win over Liverpool; and

WHEREAS, On November 12, 2017, at Cortland High School, the
Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team faced off against Massapequa
High School, taking home the NYSPHSAA Class AA Championship with a 2-0
victory; the nail-biting win secured the Baldwinsville Girls Varsity
Soccer Team's first Class AA State Championship title; and

WHEREAS, The Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team previously won
the Class A state title in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the outstanding players of
the Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team proved to be a terrific
combination of talent, posting a spectacular overall season record of
19-2; and

WHEREAS, No team can succeed without talent throughout its entire
roster, as is the case with the Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team
of Leslie Brooks, Carolyn Brussel, Leah Burrer, Madeline Bush, Kelsey
Delola, Peyton Doyle, Michelle Eubank, Trystan Foglia, Jaedyn Frink,
Claudia Fuller, Gillian Gipe, Alexis Huff, Hannah Johnson, Kaitlin
Kelly, Laura Kick, Graisa Madden, Gwenyth Madden, Hannah Mimas, Fallon
Morris, Simone Neivel, Katherine Pascale, Gabrielle Piontkowski, and
Meaghan Wilson; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by the Baldwinsville Girls
Varsity Soccer Team is due in great part to the efforts of Head Coach

Kathy Morse and Assistant Coach Lisa Deil who are skilled and
inspirational mentors, respected for their ability to develop potential
into excellence; and

WHEREAS, Coaches Kathy Morse and Lisa Deil did a superb job in
guiding, molding and inspiring the members of the Baldwinsville Girls
Varsity Soccer Team toward their goals; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team upon the
occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Class AA Championship; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned players and coaches of the
Baldwinsville Girls Varsity Soccer Team.
