MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
February 5-11, 2017, as FBLA-PBL Week in the State
of New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim February 5-11, 2017, as
FBLA-PBL Week in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National FBLA-PBL Week; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1942, Johnson City, Tennessee, Future
Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) is the largest
non-profit career student organization in the world; and
WHEREAS, FBLA teaches high school students basic business and
leadership principles, and PBL helps university, college, technical, and
business school students to make the transition from school to work; and
WHEREAS, Today in the United States, this vital organization has
grown to encompass over 250,000 members and advisers in middle schools,
high schools, colleges, universities, career and technical schools, as
well as private business schools; and
WHEREAS, FBLA-PBL is dedicated to bringing business and education
together in a positive working relationship through innovative
leadership and career development programs such as Leadership
Development, Academic Competitions, Educational Programs, Membership
Benefits, Community Service and Awards and Recognition; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, members of FBLA-PBL have performed
numerous community service activities and have continually strived to
build a student's understanding of the realities of the modern business
world; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim February 5-11, 2017, as
FBLA-PBL Week in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
