CONGRATULATING Dante Migliore upon the occasion of
capturing the 2016 National Junior College Athletic
Association Division III Golf Championship

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and

WHEREAS, Dante Migliore, a freshman at Mohawk Valley Community
College, captured the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association
(NJCAA) Division III Golf Championship at Chautaugua Golf Club; and

WHEREAS, After firing a 4-under par 68, Dante Migliore ended a
sudden-death tiebreaker with an eagle on the fifth playoff hole; and

WHEREAS, Both Dante Migliore and one other golfer shot 68s and
finished four rounds at 1-over 289; they remained tied until the
506-yard, par-5 fifth hole, when Dante's second shot, a 5-iron from 215
yards away, found the green; and

WHEREAS, Dante Migliore then captured the national title by draining
the 12-foot eagle putt, ending a day that got off to a promising start
when he birdied three of the first six holes; that final round included
seven birdies and three bogeys, leaving Dante with rounds of
73-73-75-68; and

WHEREAS, Coach Ruth Weydig has done a superb job in guiding, molding
and inspiring Dante Migliore toward his goals; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed young man's overall record is outstanding and
he was loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends
and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, A Cedar Lake Country Club member and a graduate of
Frankfort-Schuyler High School, 19 year-old Dante Migliore's exemplary
performance is reflective of his dedication, determination and personal
commitment; his achievements stand as a hallmark of what is best in the
families, schools and communities across New York State; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dante Migliore upon the occasion of capturing the 2016
National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Golf
Championship, and to commend him for the enduring honor he has brought
to this great Empire State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dante Migliore.
