COMMENDING William W. Loughlin posthumously upon
the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor a
Deceased Veteran Ceremony on November 13, 2018

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend William W. Loughlin posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor a
Deceased Veteran Ceremony to be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13,
2018; and

WHEREAS, Born to Rita Grace (Miaski) and William Frances Loughlin,
Jr. on November 27, 1955, in Albany, New York, William Walter Loughlin
attended Columbia High School in East Greenbush, New York; and

WHEREAS, William W. Loughlin enlisted in the United States Air Force
on May 28, 1974, and proudly served his country as a member of the 772d
Radar Squadron stationed at Maguire Air Force Base in New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, For his meritorious service, William W. Loughlin was the
recipient of the National Defense Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service on March 15,
1978, William W. Loughlin returned to the Capital District and worked as
a mechanic for the City of Albany's Department of General Services; and

WHEREAS, William W. Loughlin married the former Violet Marie
Candrilli, and together the couple raised three daughters, Jamie,
Jennifer and Jessica; he was the loving grandfather of four
grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jack, Wren, and Samuel; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to his fellow veterans, William W. Loughlin was an
active member of the American Legion; he was also an avid sportsman; he
enjoyed bowling and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing; and

WHEREAS, William W. Loughlin died on November 6, 2013, at the age of
57; and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and


WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
William W. Loughlin demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore, the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend William W. Loughlin upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor a Deceased Veteran
Ceremony on November 13, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of William W. Loughlin.
