COMMENDING Youth FX upon the occasion of its
designation for special recognition by the Albany
Fund for Education on October 12, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Youth FX upon the occasion of its designation for special
recognition by the Albany Fund for Education to be celebrated at its
21st Annual Gala on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Renaissance Albany
Hotel in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Albany Fund for Education (AFE) strives to enhance
opportunities for students to learn, grow, and succeed by building
community partnerships, raising funds, and investing in innovative and
effective programs and projects that build equity and strengthen the
educational infrastructure of the City School District of Albany; and

WHEREAS, Youth FX is receiving this auspicious award for its ongoing
efforts to offer innovative and creative programming throughout the City
of Albany; including an after-school filmmaking program at Abrookin, a
youth-directed summer film project, technical training, and
opportunities for youth to take their interests and creativity to the
next level; and

WHEREAS, Youth FX is designed to empower young people ages 10-24 by
teaching them the technical and creative aspects of digital filmmaking
and media production; based in Albany, its primary mission is to work
with diverse groups of youth from communities which have been
historically under-served and in need of opportunities to learn
filmmaking and acquire skills in emerging media technologies; and

WHEREAS, Youth FX offers young people hands-on programming that
develops leadership skills, creativity, and critical thinking through
the collaborative and artistic process of making films, amplifying the
voices of young people in the capital region of New York State and
around the world; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Youth FX upon the occasion of its designation for special
recognition by the Albany Fund for Education on October 12, 2018; and be
it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Youth FX.
