COMMENDING The Seymour Fox Foundation, Inc. upon
the occasion of its selection as an Outstanding
Community Partner by The Food Pantries for the
Capital District on October 4, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend The Seymour Fox Foundation, Inc. upon the occasion of its
selection as an Outstanding Community Partner by The Food Pantries for
the Capital District, to be observed at its 7th Annual Harvest Evening
Celebration on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Franklin Plaza in Troy, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1979, The Food Pantries for the Capital
District is a coalition of more than 60 food pantries located in Albany,
Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties; each year, The Food
Pantries helps fund, collect, and deliver 2.9 million pounds of food for
its food member pantries, which helps provide food to 59,000 people for
approximately 3.3 million meals; and
WHEREAS, For many years, The Seymour Fox Foundation, Inc. has been a
strong supporter in the fight against hunger; this compassionate
foundation is being recognized for its many contributions to The Food
Pantries of the Capital District, and to the people this valuable
organization serves; and
WHEREAS, The late Seymour Fox was born on May 12, 1925; for over 50
years, he was an attorney dedicated to serving generations of families
in and around the City of Troy; and
WHEREAS, Well known in his professional role as a trial lawyer,
Seymour Fox's private passion was to make the world a better place for
those who needed help; in his last will and testament, he made a
charitable bequest with the direction that the money be used to support
institutions and organizations engaged in charitable acts, scientific
work and educational activities which exemplify the life, work, and
spirit of justice for which he strove during his lifetime; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, The Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation, Inc. was
formed to carry forward Seymour Fox's directions; the charitable
foundation provides funding to public charities and truly hopes that
through collaboration with the right organizations, it can help, person
by person, to make the world a better place for those in need; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Seymour Fox Foundation, Inc. upon the occasion of its
selection as an Outstanding Community Partner by The Food Pantries for
the Capital District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Seymour Fox Foundation, Inc.
