COMMENDING Club Monarch upon the occasion of
celebrating its 40th Anniversary
WHEREAS, Within each community of this great State of New York there
are certain businesses that define the nature of the region and the
people who inhabit it; and
WHEREAS, Such is true of Club Monarch, located at 16 Erie Street, in
the village of Yorkville, New York, which has provided nourishment and
employment for residents in Oneida County for 40 prosperous years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Club Monarch upon
the occasion of its 40th Anniversary; on every Friday throughout the
month of January, customers will receive a complimentary dessert to
celebrate this momentous occasion; and
WHEREAS, In January of 1979, Elaine and Rich Hickel purchased Club
Monarch, a well-known restaurant and banquet facility in Yorkville, a
suburb of the City of Utica; after the unfortunate death of Rich in
1998, Elaine and her children, Joe, Nicole and Rich, carried on the
family business turning it into the immensely popular destination it is
today; and
WHEREAS, Club Monarch serves a full dinner menu with its famous fish
fry every Friday evening, and specializes in wedding receptions, and
both anniversary and all-occasion parties; and
WHEREAS, In addition to providing a warm and comfortable place for
people to gather and enjoy good food, Club Monarch prides itself on
giving back to its community by regularly donating food to Mother
Maryann's Kitchen, and hosting various benefits for cancer survivors,
underprivileged children and families in need; the Hickel family is
always willing to donate time, money or food for the community; and
WHEREAS, For 40 fruitful years, the owners and employees of Club
Monarch have brought an uncommon sense of quality and spirit to the
community, providing Yorkville and Oneida County not only with
impeccable service and delicious food, but also with good old-fashioned
memories to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting that this Legislative Body recognize local
businesses such as Club Monarch which have become institutions in the
community, as well as the successful entrepreneurs who have nurtured
them throughout the years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Club Monarch upon the occasion of celebrating its 40th
Anniversary, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the same
sparkling success and indomitable spirit which has so characterized its
past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Elaine Hickel, Owner, Club Monarch.
