HONORING Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Visionary Award by the
National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter on
March 22, 2020

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Visionary Award by the
National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter to be celebrated at its
Gala on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid is a devoted community
advocate and human rights activist; for 25 years, he has been
volunteering his time and energies in a variety of capacities and on
many projects including creating job opportunities in the healthcare
field, the fight against drugs, community empowerment, legal and
immigration issues, family counseling, healthcare education, civic and
human rights, senior care, and youth activities; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid has been involved
in humanitarian work and fund-raising efforts for various not-for-profit
organizations and disaster/relief management in the United States and
around the world; and

WHEREAS, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid has been instrumental in
organizing several conferences inside the United Nations and the United
States House of Representatives, and has been invited to speak in dozens
of forums around the world on social, human rights, humanitarian and
international affairs; and

WHEREAS, His 2017 speech to the United Nations about the "Status of
Women" has been watched by more than 201 million viewers so far around
the world including several Heads of States; and

WHEREAS, In 2014, the International Human Rights Commission
nominated Malik Nadeem Abid as Ambassador to the United Nations, and in
June of 2016, he was appointed Secretary General of the International
Human Rights Commission and Executive Director of the IHRC Relief Fund
Trust; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his luminous humanitarian work, Ambassador
Malik Nadeem Abid has served as a senior healthcare executive for over
20 years; in this capacity, he has truly made a difference in the lives

of hundreds of thousands of under-privileged families by providing much
needed healthcare services; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable man has also organized several healthcare
education seminars and conferences educating communities about
prevailing diseases and preventions and arranged several free health
screening clinics in different parts of the world; and

WHEREAS, In June of 2016, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid was elected
1st Vice President of New York State Adult Day Services Association; in
this role, he has testified in front of both the New York State Senate
and Assembly as an expert on healthcare and senior care; and

WHEREAS, Moreover, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid was a member of the
National Council of Fellowship of Reconciliation which diligently worked
to promote peace and harmony among different religious and ethnic
communities; currently, he is the New York Chapter President of American
Muslim Voice Foundation and serves on its National Board; and

WHEREAS, From 2011-2013, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid held the title
of Commissioner of Human Rights for Nassau County, and was a member of
the American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Board from 2005-2006; and

WHEREAS, Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid has been honored many times by
numerous elected officials and worthy organizations for his tireless and
dedicated community service at all levels of government; he was also the
recipient of the 2008 Shining Star Award by United Healthcare; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife and daughter, both
of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid
has displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Visionary Award by the
National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter on March 22, 2020; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ambassador Malik Nadeem Abid.
