Geno Peter Egiziaco, Sr. was born in Waltham, Mass. on March 6th, 1922 to Michael and Carmela Egiziaco. His family moved to the Bronx in 1937 and from there, headed to Yonkers. He attended Yonkers Public School and went to Rutgers University in New Jersey where he studied labor law and management methods.
Mr. Egiziaco honorably served his country from 1941 to 1945 with the United States Marine Corps and from 1946 to 1948 with the United States Army Transport Service. He has the distinction of honorably serving both of these branches of the military. During his military time he served twenty-eight months in a combat zone.
Mr. Egiziaco worked for the Chrysler Corporation in New York City where he honed his union leadership skills. In 1954, he joined Otis Elevator Company in Yonkers where he was employed as a machinist. He was elected as the Company’s Activities Director and served as Liaison between management and labor. He was promoted to Supervisor of Stocks and Records and held that position until his retirement in 1982.
He was married to the former Alma Bistany in 1950. They had two sons, Geno Jr., and Michael. Their sons presented them with four grandchildren. Alma passed away in 1978.
In 1981, he married the former Florence Landi, a Yonkers Schoolteacher. They currently reside in Yonkers with their dog, Daisy, and they enjoy vacationing at their home in Naples Florida.
Mr. Egiziaco has been very active in the Yonkers Community. He was a former 4th Ward Leader Republican Leader and he currently serves as Assistant to the Republican Chairman. He is an active member of the Enrico Fermi Breakfast Committee, the American Veterans Post 40, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1666, a life member of the Yonkers Disabled American Veterans and the Commander of Cook Post 321 of the American Legion.
In his spare time, Mr. Egiziaco helps to counsel veterans for the City of Yonkers and involves himself in the Yonkers Republican Committee activities.
