NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. was a Grand Marshal of the annual Phagwah Parade held by the Indo Caribbean Hindu community, on Sunday, March 7, which began at 133rd Street and Liberty Avenue and ended at Phil Rizzuto Park (formerly Smokey Oval Field) in Richmond Hill. Thousands of parade goers lined the route or gathered in the park for the festivities that included throwing colorful powder, water and confetti, to celebrate chasing away winter on the festival of Holi or Phagwah, and the start of the community’s new year.
